Introduction

The story of 13th-century Buddhist monk Dogen, who travelled to China to learn from a true master. Returning to Japan, his form of Zen Buddhism is shunned by the traditional temples in Kyoto. He is forced into exile in the mountains, but is eventually invited to counsel the skeptical Shogun.
