Introduction
Shinzaemon is pressured to repay money he borrowed from Soetsu, so kills Soetsu and his own wife and has their bodies dumped in the 'Kasanegafuchi' swamp. This is the beginning of a succession of terrible disasters, including the gruesome death of Shinzaemon, that also afflicts his son and relatives.
